Love the idea of an alarm system, but don't want an electrician trailing wires around your home? Well, you'll be pleased to know there's no electrical work involved in fitting the Ring Alarm Security Kit. It's so simple to install, that you could easily do it yourself.
The alarm system's indeed most effective when working with other Ring camera products, as you can see what's going on if the sensors are triggered. Though, if you don't already have cameras, it still works well. It's also good value for money. Our only issue? There are no key fobs, which would make arming and disarm even easier.
The Ring Alarm Security Kit includes a window/door sensor, a motion sensor, a base station with siren, a keypad, and a range extender. You can also buy extra sensors if you should need them. It connects to your wi-fi network and once armed, sounds the siren if any of the sensors are triggered. It's possible to partially arm some of the sensors, too. So, you could have them running downstairs while you're asleep upstairs.
This product works best with Ring video doorbells or wi-fi security cameras, as you can configure the system so that the camera automatically starts recording when sensors are set off.

The optional Ring Protect Plus service costs $10 per month (or $100 for the year) and provides a mobile data connection in case your wi-fi network goes down. If the sensors are triggered and you don't respond, it will automatically call three of your chosen emergency contacts.
The system works with Alexa and lets you set up routines via the Alexa app, for example, smart lights can also be activated if one of the sensors is triggered
While you can use Alexa to arm/disarm the alarm if you have a compatible device, it requires speaking your passcode, which could easily be overheard if someone is listening
There's no geofence, so the alarm can't be armed/disarmed automatically based on your location
